Don Alberto Taxo
Don Alberto Taxo is a Native Master Yachak (Wise Man) residing in the High Andes Mountains. A teacher and healer in the Panzeleo Cotopaxi Quichua tradition of Ecuador, he was appointed the highest honor of Master Yachak by the Shamanic Council of South America. Now, through ancient Andean practices, Don Alberto offers us an invitation to awaken our ability to feel the sacredness of every time, every place and every moment. This he refers to as the power of the Condor.
For twelve years, Don Alberto has been sharing ancient Andean wisdom with visitors from the United States realizing a five hundred year-old prophecy that foretold of the time when: the power of the Eagle (industrialized nations of the North) and the power of the Condor (natives of South America) will fly together in the same sky.
The word "Yachak" in his native Quichua language, describes a way of life. The Yachak is one "who has walked a long way," living his life compelled to share the wisdom of his ancestors for the benefit of others, fulfilling the role of spiritual guide, healer and leader of the community. Don Alberto has been a speaker at schools, universities, international conferences, political rallies, and native celebrations. He has spoken to audiences of 600 and more, as diverse as South American natives and North American medical professionals, on topics ranging from, "Preparing for Globalization" to "Ancient Andean Practices and their Application to Western Medicine." His way is powerful and gentle. During a strike that paralyzed Ecuador, he performed an integral role in negotiating a settlement that respected the basic rights of indigenous people. The co-author of two books, he currently teaches at an indigenous university close to Cuenca.
“Bringing the elements into balance, we can continue to manifest the prophecy of the elders, that the power of the Eagle and the power of the Condor will fly together in the same sky."
