Jenny Otto E-RYT500, is an Anusara® Certified Instructor and Teacher Trainer who has been teaching and developing wellness/exercise programs for over 27 years.
She is nationally known for her in-depth understanding of anatomy and therapeutics, having studied not only with yoga masters but osteopaths, chiropractors and rolfers to develop her unique approach to physical well-being and pain management.
Jenny shares the depth of her knowledge and her love of yoga as she travels both nationally and internationally teaching workshops, residencies and yoga therapy teacher trainings. She brings warmth, humor and creativity to her teaching, as well as detailed knowledge in working with injuries and special conditions.
Yoga Therapy Training & Certification 2 Modules in 2011 - Oct & Dec
Yoga is an extremely effective therapy when following precise universal and sound bio-mechanical principles of alignment.
In this workshop, you will study connective structural relationships to find the trails that lead to pain. Learn how to relieve pain from common injuries and special conditions, such as neck and shoulder pain, knee misalignments, sacral and lower back pain, sciatica and more. We will see how precise alignment can actually begin the healing process and release chronic pain and tension. You will receive hands-on practical tools on how to help relieve pain.
Therapy Training is designed to help you:
- Recognize common misalignments in yourself and students or clients
- Deepen your understanding of Anatomy and the nervous system
- Understand the structural Anatomy Trains® lines that support a healthy body
- Learn how to use Hatha Yoga therapeutically
- Alleviate pain and begin to reverse the effects of chronic imbalances
- As a health professional, gain more skills to help your clients.
- The training is open to all. It is especially useful for Yoga Students, Body Workers, Physical Therapists, Physical Trainers and anyone else with a body!

- Dec 3 &4th- Anatomy of the diaphragm, breath, Head , Neck & Shoulders

You can attend individual modules. Attendance in all Modules is required if you are working towards certification.Times: 9am-6pm both days

Perfect for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, bodyworkers and serious yoga students alike ... this condensed and customized version of the regular BBY Therapy Training will cover feet, knees, shins, pelvis, hips, low back and legs. We'll bring it all together with yoga therapeutics, polework, asana sequences with creative variations, lectures, discussions and excellent handouts. You'll learn innovative ways to approach many chronic pain conditions and injuries that can be used to enhance your teaching and private yoga therapy practices.

Yoga for Keeping Your Head up – Head, Neck & Shoulders
Perfect for yoga teachers, yoga therapists, bodyworkers and serious yoga students alike ... this condensed and customized version of the regular BBY Therapy Training will cover: shoulders, mid-back, neck, the proper use of pranayama, sound healing and breathing conditions. Jenny will instruct techniques and you'll learn innovative ways to approach numerous chronic pain conditions, injuries and other special conditions that will effectively enhance your teaching and private yoga therapy practices.
Certification Guidelines
- Be registered as an RYT 500, or equivalent, other experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- Must have completed 100 hours of training with Jenny Otto (prior trainings held at Earth Heart Yoga with Jenny can be applied to the therapy program hours).
- Demonstrate a dedication to higher learning and continuing education.
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the Universal Principles of Alignment, and an understanding of myofascial chains of movement.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the nervous system and the effects of pranayama, meditation and asana on said system.
- Be able to effectively observe and read students' alignment and give the proper assistance.
- Demonstrate clear and precise verbal and physical instructions.
- Possess a teaching style that is authentic and a commitment to serving.
- Demonstrate the ability to present a well-designed asana sequence that opens and supports the body, mind & spirit.
- Certain other backgrounds and training may be considered on an individual basis for certification evaluation.
How to Apply for Certification
Submit an application for the Body Balance Yoga Program. Submit a copy of your Yoga Alliance RYT 500 Hour card.
A non-refundable fee of $100.00 is required with the application.
Students currently enrolled in a Registered Yoga Alliance 500 Hour program are eligible to apply but certification will only be rewarded after proof of completion and evaluation.
If the Applicant meets the requirements described above, he or she is eligible to be evaluated for certification.
Applicant will be observed during classes or workshops on the requirements listed above. When the applicant meets and demonstrates successfully the requirements, he or she will be eligible for certification. This process is not about judgment. Observation and critique are necessary for the growth of the student as well as the assessors. A written test or video may or may not be required.
In order to maintain your certification status, you must maintain Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) status through Yoga Alliance and complete a minimum of 8 classroom hours with Jenny or another Body Balance Yoga Certified Teacher every 12 months.

A minimum of 15 students are needed to run the workshop. Please pass this onto anyone you think may be interested so we all can benefit from the teachings of such a highly skilled instructor.

Nationally known Jenny Otto - E-RYT500, is Anusara Certified and a designated Senior Anusara Teacher Trainer who has been teaching and developing wellness/exercise programs for over 27 years. She has recently completed the Tom Myers Kinesis study resulting in Certification as a Structural Integrator.
Jenny is known for expanding her studies to keep her classes fresh. She began studying with Thomas Myers of Anatomy Trains in 2007. Jenny has participated in two human dissections with Mr. Myers to further her understanding of the human body. She has completed his accelerated program Kinesis Myofascial Integration and is now a certified structural integrator. Structural Integration is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf.
Jenny teaches workshops and teacher trainings and leads yoga retreats nationally and internationally. All workshops, teacher training and classes with Jenny fulfill Anusara Teacher continuing education requirements and count as Anusara teacher training with a Master Trainer and can be applied to John Friends Anusara Certification requirements.
